TV
The easiest way to do this is to get a Freeview HD or Freeview Play recorder. Just buy the box, plug it in and then you get to choose when you watch your favourite TV.
You can record a show by clicking on the TV Guide and then selecting the show you want to record. You can record a single programme or a whole series.
You can also pause and rewind live TV, so you need never miss a moment. All of this is at no monthly cost after a one-off payment for the box.
Download your favourite shows
If you're leaving the country for holiday or work, you can also download on-demand or catch-up shows on the individual players and watch them offline – useful to know, as you can't stream shows over the internet while you're abroad.
Just use the Freeview mobile app to find what you want to watch, download the programme within the individual player, and you can watch it through the player, wherever you are.
APP
You can't record programmes through the Freeview mobile app, but you can find content to download and watch offline.
How do I download content?
To find programmes to download, tap the On Demand button on the menu at the bottom of the app. Tap on the programme you want to watch, and you'll then be taken to the relevant channel's player to download it and watch it when you want to. (Downloads will come through the player's app, rather than the Freeview mobile app.)
Remember that if you're abroad, you can't download any content or stream any shows over the internet. So, make sure you've downloaded whatever you want to watch through the individual player before you leave the UK, then you can watch it offline when you're away.

From our app, you can easily link to content from:
- BBC iPlayer (BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC Parliament – live and on demand).
- ITV Hub (ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITVBe, CITV – live and on demand).
- All 4 (Channel 4, E4, Film 4, More 4 – live and on demand).
- My5 (5, 5USA, 5STAR, 5Spike, Paramount Network, 5SELECT – live and on demand).
- UKTV Play (Dave, Really, Yesterday, Drama – on demand only).
