TV
At Freeview, we believe everyone has the right to watch great TV for free. So all the channels are free, there’s no contract and only a one-off payment for the equipment.
What channels do I get?
With Freeview, you can get over 100 channels, all with no subscription. And with a Freeview Play device you can also watch HD channels.
The exact number of channels you'll get depends on the coverage at your address. Use our Freeview Channel Checker to find out the ones available to you.
Get even more with Freeview Play
Freeview Play lets you watch even more – with more than 30,000 hours of free on-demand content and catch-up TV from the likes of the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV Play and CBS.
On all Freeview Play devices, you can scroll backwards through the TV Guide and choose a programme to catch up on.
Streaming services from Freeview
With Freeview, you get a range of free streaming channels from different providers, including specialist and foreign language channels and global news services. These are available on channels 225-250 from your TV Guide.
When you’re watching a BBC channel, if you press the red button on your remote, Red Button+ gives you TV highlights, news, sport, children’s TV, weather forecasts and the lottery results.
The Freeview Play apps page gives you extra services like BBC Sport and BBC News.
Can I subscribe to other paid streaming services through Freeview?
Of course, you can still pay for extra subscription channels available from other companies in addition to Freeview if you want to. You’ll need the right equipment to receive their channels and services (but you’ll still get Freeview for free).
What else do I need?
You’ll need a minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbps to watch catch-up and on-demand services – this will count towards any monthly broadband data allowance you have.
You'll also need a TV licence and an aerial that's in good condition.
APP
At Freeview, we believe everyone has the right to watch great TV for free. No contract, no monthly bill, no fuss.
