Over the past few years, we have been working hard to make our TV platform more accessible.
This week we have started rolling our new Accessible TV Guide, and it is now available at Channel 555 on supported Freeview Play devices. It is a dedicated area designed to make finding Accessible content easier.
Check if your TV has the new Accessible TV Guide
The Accessible TV Guide is simple to use if you have visual impairments. It has a high contrast display, large text, and a text-to-speech functionality.
If you have a supported Freeview Play TV, the first thing to do is make sure it's connected to the internet.
Once you have checked this, select Channel 555 and you will land on the new Accessible TV Guide. If the Accessible TV Guide doesn’t open you may need to retune your device,
You will then need to set up your profile, and select your preferred settings from the below options:-
- Use Text to Speech for on screen navigation
- Show only programmes with audio description
- Show only programmes with subtitles
- Show only programmes with sign language
You can then choose to watch a demo video of the guide, or head straight to the guide itself.
From the guide you can then browse all the upcoming content that fits your accessibility settings.
Once you have had a browse with the Accessible TV Guide, we would love to know what you think.
