We've rounded up 15 of the shows we can't wait to watch this month, from Michaela Coel's brand new drama to the return of live football, take a look at what's coming up.
Premier League
The Premier League has confirmed it will kick off again on the 17th June, and to top things off 25 matches will be broadcast live on Freeview. Alongside this the BBC will be hosting a bumper crop of Match Of the Day highlight programmes with Gary Lineker leading the analysis as usual.
World Cup Final ‘66, Channel 4
The most iconic moment in English footballing history - England’s dramatic 1966 World Cup Final win over West Germany - will be broadcast in full this Sunday. Sir Geoff Hurst, the only football player ever to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final will be on hand with Gabby Logan and Glenn Hoddle, to give his unique insight into the game as it happens. It’s not just fun and games though, the broadcast is in aid of the National Emergencies Trust’s Coronavirus Appeal and Natwest have promised to match the donations made on the day.
Euro Rewind, BBC
From 6 June to 28 June, join Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman for Euros Rewind, as the BBC brings us a series of classic European Championship group matches, followed by some of the tournament's iconic knockout games. You can relive the magic of Zinedine Zidane, the brilliance of Gareth Bale, see Paul Gascoigne in his prime and a scintillating Wayne Rooney - to name just a few. There is also a chance for you to vote for your favourite Euros final, with the top three being played in full over the last weekend of June.
Michael McIntyre’s Laughs, BBC One
We could all do with a bit of comfort TV, and as always, Michael McIntyre is on hand. Join Michael as he revisits his favourite moments from the Big Show, including unforgettable Send to All’s from presenter Holly Willoughby and chef Jamie Oliver. Judge Rinder gets the fright of his life when he’s woken in the middle of the night to play the Midnight Gameshow, and Michael relives the moment Gary Barlow surprised the audience by singing along to their karaoke versions of some classic Take That songs.
Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, BBC One
Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer is the BBCs brand new jam-packed entertainment show for summer 2020. Peter Crouch, Maya Jama and Alex Horne join forces to Save Our Summer, by bringing the biggest names from the world of sport, comedy and music back into our lives. With special performances from the gardens of some music megastars, celebrity guests, a sporting tournament like no other featuring some of our biggest sport stars, and watch as Peter takes on some extreme challenges as he tries to ‘Save Our Summer'. I May Destroy you, BBC One
Brand new from Bafta-winner Michaela Coel. After visiting her aspirational long-distance boyfriend in Italy, burgeoning writer Arabella returns to London, where she’s greeted by a deluge of frantic messages from her literary agents. With a matter of hours left to finish a draft of her second book, she plans to pull an all-nighter - but is soon tempted to join a friend on a night out. What follows is a fearless, frank and provocative drama about sexual consent and modern relationships. Starts Monday 8th June, 10:45pm on BBC One, with episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.
Britain’s Best Parent? Channel 4
Anita Rani fronts a new five-part series where she explores different parenting styles as she tries to answer one of life’s most hotly debated questions right now - is there a right way to raise children? 12 sets of parents, all convinced they’ve mastered parenting, go head to head to prove their way is best tackling all the most important child-rearing topics from mealtimes and discipline to education and screen time. Available on All 4, and Thursday evenings on Channel 4.
Love Island Australia, ITV2
It’s the Love Island you love, just with a different accent! Starting later this month and airing nightly on ITV2, the Australian version of the UK’s favourite dating show is hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott. The series sees a bunch of sizzling Aussie singles embark on the ultimate summer of love, leaving the Australian winter behind them, as they take up residence in a luxury villa in Mallorca.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, All 4
The Buffy The Vampire Slayer box set is available to binge now on All 4. If you did not watch it the first time round - it’s time to meet Buffy Summers. Buffy is attempting to live a normal teenage life at Sunnydale High School, but she is destined to become a hunter of vampires and demons. Slowly, and guided by her Watcher, Giles and helped by friends Willow and Xander, Buffy embraces her responsibilities.
The Bidding Room, BBC One
Nigel Havers hosts The Bidding Room, a new series from the makers of The Repair Shop. Set in an emporium deep in the Yorkshire countryside, a group of expert dealers will attempt to outbid each other to buy extraordinary items brought in by the public. The dealers have no idea who is going to walk in or what they’ll be selling, but if it’s something they want, they’ll have to bid against each other to secure the deal. On weekdays at 3:45pm, BBC One.
The Masked Singer US, ITV
The Masked Singer is back on ITV this weekend, with the US version of the show. There’s an all star judging panel as Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger try to guess who is behind the mask. The series begins on Saturday, 4:40pm on ITV.
Staged, BBC One
David Tennant and Michael Sheen star as two actors whose West End play has been put on hold due to Covid-19, but whose director has persuaded them to carry on rehearsing online. All they need to do is read the first scene, but throughout the series they come up against a multitude of oppositional forces: distraction, boredom, home-schooling and their own egos. Airing on BBC One at 10:45pm on Wednesdays, with episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.
Barbarian’s Rising, BLAZE
Barbarians Rising is an epic saga telling the rise and fall of the Roman Empire from the perspective of the barbarian leaders who brought it down; a high-impact, visceral journey into the heart of their rebellions against absolute power. The eight-part docu-drama reveals the true story of the 700-year battle for supremacy, a fight for freedom that would shape the world to come. The series starts on Saturday 14th June, 10pm on BLAZE.
Celebrity IOU, HGTV
Celebrity IOU follows Hollywood A-listers as they express their deep gratitude to the individuals who have had a major impact on their lives by surprising them with big, heart-warming home renovations that bring everyone to tears! The celebrity line-up includes Brad Pitt, Melissa McCarthy, Rebel Wilson and Michael Bublé. Tune in, Mondays at 10pm on HGTV.
Big Zuu’s Big Eats, Dave
Grime Artist Big Zuu has a hidden talent – he’s also a great cook. His only professional experience may have been six months working the grill at Nando’s, but now, this self taught chef is hitting the road with his old school mates Tubsey and Hyder, looking to cook up amazing dishes in the back of his very own food truck for a selection of the UK’s favourite comedians. In this series he’s meeting top comics such as Jimmy Carr, Rosie Jones, Josh Widdicombe, Jamali Maddix and London Hughes. The series is airing on Friday nights on Dave, and you can catch up on the episodes so far on UKTV Play.
Glastonbury, BBC
From Thursday 25 to Monday 29 June, the BBC will be bringing the spirit of Glastonbury to viewers at home with The Glastonbury Experience. BBC Two, BBC Four and BBC iPlayer will show classic Glastonbury performances in full from some of the biggest artists in the history of the festival, including Adele, Beyoncé, David Bowie (which will be the first time that performance has ever been broadcast in full on television) Coldplay and Jay-Z.
